Mayor Bloomberg has banned clergy from speaking at the 9/11 ceremony because “focus should be on the families who lost their loved ones.”
If he really feels that way, then surely no politicians will be allowed to speak, because undoubtedly their focus will be less on the families and more on themselves.
What of Fr. Mychal Judge who died that day? What of the faith of the firefighters who ran into those burning, collapsing buildings when every one else was running out? What of ALL the religious men and women who died that day? Have their families even been asked their opinion on the matter?
I think it’s ironic that the 10th anniversary of the attack on the Towers is being marked (and marred) by religious intolerance.
